The 2012 & 2013 Ned EcoPasses were a pilot program funded by a grant from Boulder County Transportation and the Federal government through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). Click here for more details on the Ned EcoPass program.
The Town of Nederland is exploring different options to support the Nederland EcoPass program for 2014. How can we afford this free EcoPass? One option is through a special improvement district property tax.
URGENT – 300 signatures needed by July 8th:
While we are also exploring other possibilities, in order to preserve the special improvement district option, we need to get 300 signatures on an official petition by Monday, July 8th. This is Urgent!
If you are interested in continuing the EcoPass program in 2014, please stop by Town Hall to sign the petition. The Nederland Board of Trustees will consider all options at a work session soon.

Initial data from the pilot program revealed that the Nederland Bus (the N Bus Route) is the most popular bus in the RTD district, and that the pilot program was hugely successful.
The program has measurably minimized auto traffic in Boulder Canyon and reduced carbon emissions.
Here are some highlights:
- Ridership on the N Bus Route increased by 45% since 2011 when the program began.
- Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) in Nederland have been reduced by more than 250,000 miles annually, which has meant less traffic congestion for town residents.
- Widespread availability of the Eco Pass to Nederland residents has meant better access to transit services for seniors, people with disabilities, students, and low-income residents.
You may also volunteer to get a few of your neighbors to sign the petition as well. Just stop in to Town Hall for instructions.
To sign the petition, you must be a registered voter within the Nederland Community Library District boundaries. If you obtained a Nederland EcoPass, then you were in the district.
